Our missionTo assist any law enforcement agency in New Mexico with certified, commissioned volunteer troopers — professionally trained, equipped, and ready to serve where and when they're needed most.

What we do

Statewide support, when communities need it.

By state statute, our troopers assume the same duties, powers, and authority of the agency they're assisting — extending capacity across all 33 counties.

Intelligence

Counter-human-trafficking intelligence unit supporting partner agencies in the fight against modern-day slavery.

Traffic & Event Security

Sworn officers providing perimeter security, traffic control, and crowd management at public events statewide.

Rural Patrol Assistance

Backing up under-resourced rural law enforcement with certified personnel anywhere in the state.

Statutory authority

An independent state agency under New Mexico law.

The NMMP is not a division of the State Police or the Department of Public Safety. We are an independent state agency, established by statute and governed by our Board of Directors under rules set by the Governor of New Mexico.
